Dormant whale moves $380M Bitcoin, leaving the sale question unanswered

According to CryptoSlate, a Bitcoin address sent nearly 4,500 BTC to a single destination in a transaction confirmed on Sept. 25, 2026. Valued between $379 million and $382 million based on Coinbase's hourly price window, the principal input of 4,499.99986261 BTC had remained unspent since April 2022.

CryptoSlate reported that the destination address was unidentified and unspent at a subsequent check, meaning the transfer does not prove a sale, change of beneficial ownership, or exchange deposit. The transaction spent eight inputs from the source address, which had also received seven minor deposits totaling 2,821 satoshis between December 2024 and September 2026, and created one destination output while paying 1,303 satoshis in network fees.

While large movements of old coins often attract attention from traders monitoring potential exchange supply, CryptoSlate noted that the full output remained at the single receiving address at the time of the check, with no onward transfers or separate trade evidence established.
