According to BlockchainReporter, the Vana Foundation announced the completion of expanded staking as part of the Vega upgrade to the Vana network. The foundation also published a paper titled "VANA: The Asset Behind an Open Data Economy" detailing VANA token economics.

Network fees from personal data reads now fund staking rewards, ecosystem development, and buybacks under a fixed protocol split. A public dashboard has launched at token.vana.org to report network reads, fee income, token supply, burns, and buybacks with on-chain records.

Under the network fee model, personal data read permissions cost one cent per scope read. Protocol rules allocate 60 percent to stakers, 20 percent to ecosystem development, and 20 percent to purchasing and burning VANA. Expanded staking operates through three pools with a 5 percent operator commission. Staked positions may be moved into these pools before October 31, 2026, and principal may be withdrawn at any time.

Applications on the network have generated 2,937,447 verified reads as of September 28, 2026. Total VANA token supply and release schedules remain unchanged.
