UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Blasts Nigel Farage’s ‘Bitcoin Account’

According to reporting by Bitcoin Magazine, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey criticized Reform Party leader Nigel Farage during a Monday speech, describing him as "Liz Truss with a Bitcoin account." Healey stated that Farage wants to be seen as a man of the people but resembles the UK's shortest-serving prime minister regarding the economy. Healey contrasted this by stating his Labour Party would advance the UK through fiscal discipline, good work, and strong industries.

Farage, a pro-crypto member of parliament, has faced recent scrutiny for receiving crypto donations from entrepreneurs including Christopher Harborne and Ben Delo. The Metropolitan Police are investigating reports that Reform broke rules on overseas donations, though Reform denies wrongdoing.

Healey's remarks drew criticism from the Bitcoin community on X. Farage has previously advocated for Bitcoin as a matter of personal freedom, proposed slashing crypto capital gains taxes, and suggested forcing the Bank of England to establish a Bitcoin reserve if elected Prime Minister.
