The filing shows that his bitcoin holdings are smaller than his cash holdings, which include $1 million in a bank account. Additionally, Hegseth and his wife hold retirement accounts valued between $2.05 million and $4.35 million, which feature exchange-traded funds and transactions involving Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple stock.

Hegseth serves in the administration of President Donald Trump. Trump and his family have reported substantial earnings from digital asset ventures, with President Trump disclosing over $1.4 billion from crypto ventures and a Reuters investigation reporting family earnings of $2.3 billion through April 2026. While critics have accused Trump of profiting from crypto while shaping policy, the White House has denied conflicts of interest.
